Human Rights In Education

Intervenor

BC Ed Access is available to those parents who are navigating the BC Human Rights Tribunal System in Education cases K-12 as a possible intervenor at your hearing.

What is the role of an intervenor?

An intervenor is able to provide the tribunal member with context or perspective that goes beyond what the parties can offer.

Below is content from the BC Human Tribunal Website:

Helping the Tribunal

An intervenor may help the Tribunal by telling it:

  • the social or historical context of the complaint
  • other groups’ views about the complaint
  • argument about how to interpret the Human Rights Code
  • how a remedy might affect others

Explain:

  • any special expertise or knowledge you have in relation to the issues in the complaint
  • any different view you would bring
  • how you can help the Tribunal to decide the complaint”
