Group guidelines

Our support group operates as a confidential, non-judgmental, trauma-informed space where families can share experiences and find community.

  • Confidentiality: What is said in the group, needs to stay in the group. Trusting that this is a safe space is really important.
  • No identifying information: Please do not tell us the names of staff, or the name of your child’s school. You may even want to consider keeping your child’s name private. You don’t even need to tell us your name.
  • Non-judgmental space: Silence is welcomed for reflection and pause. People need time to process as sharing our stories can be triggering to others. We want to be supportive and thoughtful in our responses. People have different cultures and religious reasons for their parenting styles and approaches. It is not our place to expect other people to parent in the same way that we would parent.
  • Trauma-informed: We recognize that behaviours or reactions to situations could be reflective of trauma and so we don’t take these reactions personally. We give people time to process and not rush them to find their words and speak.

Get involved

Stay informed: Sign up for our newsletter to receive updates on advocacy priorities, new resources, and upcoming events. Sign up in the right sidebar where is says “Follow Blog via Email.”

Share your story: Parents and guardians are invited to share their experiences navigating the education system through our blog. Contact secretary@bcedaccess.com to contribute. You can remain anonymous.
Institutional silence relies on family silence—when experiences of harm remain private, systems assume no problems exist. Sharing your story creates the visibility needed to drive systemic change.

Volunteer: We periodically need support for specific projects and initiatives. Contact secretary@bcedaccess.com if you’re interested in being notified when volunteer opportunities become available.
