About the Role
The Policy Analyst works as a member of the communications team to review both provincial and district education policies for BCEdAccess, as well as to help develop internal policies where required. This will include critical analysis and recommendations brought to the Board in order to help advocate for changes.
The Policy Analyst reports to the Executive Director.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Policy Analyst will assist in improving internal policy and terms with the Board and the Communications Team. The Policy Analyst will also assist in the research and recommendation of advocacy projects and initiatives that could help improve disabled students’ access to equitable education. This will include but not be limited to reviewing the following:
- BC Schools’ education and accessibility policies
- Individual districts’ education and accessibility policies
- BC provincial education and accessibility policies
- The federal education and accessibility policies
- International law’s education and accessibility policies
- Partner organizations’ education and accessibility policies
Qualifications
Required:
- Demonstrated applied skills in Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Google Suite
- Comfort collaborating within a larger team
- Previous experience with research and notetaking
- Previous experience in project management or proposals
- Ability to work remotely and unsupervised
- Possess excellent organizational and communication skills
Other Useful Skills and Experience:
- Skilled in writing (please provide a writing sample)
- Previous experience with advocacy for students with disabilities
- Lived-experience with BC schools
- Knowledge of education, disabilities, human rights, social justice
- Political science, marketing, business
- Event planning/volunteering/nonprofit experience
